The Catholic Diocese of Udaipur has more than half of its Mission stations in the District of Banwara. Therefore it was necessary for the diocese to have a centre in the district headquarters. So, in 1979 Fr Antony Vettikatt started the work in the city of Banswara by staying in a rented house. Eventually, late Fr Varghese Kaipadakunnel brought a large plot of land in Tikariya village just outside the township of Banswara. Fr Varghese started the parish and put up an English medium school there. The Mission Sisters of Ajmer (MSA) were invited to collaborate in the activities of the parish and the school. On 29thJune, 2006 the people of Banswara were blessed with a new Church, consecrated by Most Rev. Joseph Pathalil and dedicated it to Sts Peter and Paul as its Patron Saints.
